After suffering from poison oak rashes for many years and unable to find a natural cure, I, long being a passionate medicinal herbalist, formulated a natural poison oak soap on my 40-acre organic farm. As an amazon seller, of various products, including pet supplements and supplies, I have tried, in the past, manufacturing in China because it’s cheaper than making goods domestically. I figured lower Chinese manufacturing costs will translate into better margins and lower prices.
On a basic level, I encountered difficulties with every production; The language barrier, the faulty/wrong ingredients, and inferior counterfeits that represented a shell of the original product I had envisioned.
The “Made in China” label has negative connotations. For good reason.
My products a took a long time to get to me—up to 30 days by sea. I considered having a distribution hub on home soil, but that added to the cost.
